The U.S. E-SIGN Act:
The E-Sign Act allows the use of electronic records to satisfy any statute, regulation, or rule of law requiring that such information be provided in writing, if the consumer has affirmatively consented to such use and has not withdrawn such consent.

Section 7 of UETA defines 4 fundamental rules which provides the overall intent of the policy- Rule 1: "the record or signature may not be denied legal effect or enforceability solely because it is in electronic form”.
- Rule 2: "a contract may not be denied legal effect or enforceability solely because an electronic record was used in its formation."
- Rule 3: “states that any law that requires a writing will be satisfied by an electronic record”
- Rule 4: any signature requirement in the law will be met if there is an electronic signature.
